My academic background is based in science and math. I am an honors graduate from the Georgia Institute of Technology where I majored in Aerospace Engineering and minored in Astrophysics. I plan to teach at a major research institution after earning my doctorate in engineering. You won't be surprised to learn that math and science are my favorite subjects, and I see being a tutor as a great opportunity to blend my love for teaching and knowledge. Calculus is my favorite area. There is exceptional beauty in its processes, and my own journey in learning it has had a significant influence on how I approach academics and teaching. There are many standard techniques that should be used when tutoring to ensure the student's success. But I also know that tutoring works better when it's fun and when instruction is customized for the learner. Grades matter, of course, but the real measurement is when the student truly grasps the content. When I am not teaching, you will find me outdoors hiking, fishing, and rock climbing. If I am inside, I love to play instruments, watch movies, and listen to music.
